Lorenzo Bigatti is a communication designer and art director. He is passionate about designing books and magazines, exhibitions, and creating complex design systems.  Right now, he's stuck in London during a pandemic. He's reading and cooking a lot, trying to stay sane, and he's now friends with every single plant growing in his 45m² apartment in Islington.

He works at the intersection of design and people, data and politics, and philosophy and technology. Through a multidisciplinary practise, he creates artefacts and design systems investigating human nature and the construction of culture.  His aim is to engage audiences with these artefacts and raise social awareness. He believe that we need to start a dialogue around important contemporary issues and design can be a tool to do it.

Lorenzo completed a Bachelor of Design at the Politecnico di Milano, and spent an exchange semester at the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany as an Erasmus student.

He then moved to Beijing, China, to work as a graphic designer at MaxOffice, a communication and research-based design studio. The experience of living in China greatly informed his interest in the risks related to personal data control and the consequential dangers for freedom of expression and speech.

In 2017, he moved back to Europe from Beijing, and started his Master of Design at the Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. During his Master’s degree he self-initiated many projects including a design magazine called Cellophane, which is curated from an open submission process, and is focused on the impacts of technology, politics and design. Lorenzo both work on content creation, curation and art direction of the magazine.
